Florida Auto Insurance Premiums

What affects the pricing of your Florida auto insurance policy? There are five main factors that are involved when an insurance company adjusts your premium:
- Age - there's not much you can do to change your age except wait, unfortunately. Younger drivers are perceived as higher risks since they're not as "mature" in their driving as a more experienced driver might be.
- Gender - Another factor that you can't do much about (without some extensive surgery). Men are generally perceived as being more dangerous drivers, so women often get lower rates.
- Type of Vehicle - If you want lower premiums, get a car with a lower price tag. Mustangs and Aston Martins can be nifty, but you wouldn't believe the rates these things get!
- Driving Violations - The well-seasoned driver may be familiar with how traffic violations (i.e. speeding tickets) can affect your insurance premium. My advice: whenever possible, take an online driving course to eliminate the possibility of points accruing on your license. This keeps insurance companies from jacking up your rates!
- Insurance Company - Now here's something you CAN control. Find an independent agent that will shop your policy around to find the best deal for you! Some companies simply offer lower prices.
